Blocked Bank Account Guide
The mandatory financial proof for studying in Germany and other European countries.
What is a Blocked Account?
A Blocked Account (Sperrkonto) is a special type of bank account required by German law for international students. It serves as proof of financial resources (Finanzierungsnachweis) when applying for a student visa.
The money you deposit cannot be withdrawn all at once. Instead, you receive a monthly allowance (e.g., €934) to cover your living expenses.
Why do I need it?
- Mandatory for Student Visa applications
- Guarantees you can afford living in Germany
- Required before your visa appointment
